Seasonal Gardener - Propagator / Shop - Hillsborough Castle (6 months)

A seasonal gardener opportunity has arisen to join our enthusiastic gardening team at Hillsborough Castle. In this role you will help to propagate plants in our nursery, work in the walled garden and harvest crops for the garden shop. The grounds of Hillsborough have recently undergone major work to develop and enhance their horticultural excellence and beauty. There are new and exciting developments every year - this year, new children’s trails have been installed.  

This role will require a passion for plants and working in the horticulture industry. Applicants must be able to provide the highest level of propagation and growing while maintaining a safe, clean, and secure working environment. 

If you have a positive, proactive, and enthusiastic attitude then this is the role for you. Applicants for this role will be supporting the rest of the Gardens and Estates team, to grow plants for the shop and the grounds, as well as taking on a variety of different tasks in the wider estate when required. Working in a small team and with a keen eye for detail, you will have a passion for gardening in prestigious gardens, a professional all-round knowledge of garden plants and vegetable production, growing hardy ornamental nursery stock, and an understanding of what it means to provide 5-Star service to our visitors. 

The successful candidate will be positive and team focused. Experience of retailing plants is also desirable. 

You must already hold or be working towards a horticulture qualification.

This role involves working weekends and Bank holidays.
