Hampton Court Palace with hybrid working

We are a team of people who love and look after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. We create space for spirits to stir and be stirred.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced historic buildings professional to take on responsibility for Hampton Court Palace. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic, and creative individual to become a key part of HRP’s Curatorial team.  You will lead on researching, understanding, and sharing the stories of one of the greatest palaces ever built. You will help to champion an understanding of the palace’s history  by setting standards for the conservation, presentation, and use of the palace. Working closely with colleagues across HRP you will provide advice on the requirements of the law with regards to scheduled monuments and listed buildings. Representing HRP to the wider world and communicating its stories, you will develop and publish research into the palace and its historic context for both academic and public audiences.

You will have demonstrable experience of managing change in a heritage environment and bring expertise in one, or more, of the following areas: Architectural History, Archaeology, Historic Building Conservation, Early Modern History, Landscape/Garden History. In addition, you will understand best practice in the field of buildings archaeology and be able to read and understand architectural drawings. Knowledge of Early Modern History would be an advantage.

You will take enjoyment from working on a wide variety of projects within multi-disciplinary teams with a talent for finding solutions to problems big and small. As a skilled communicator you will have experience building collaborative relationships with varied stakeholders.

You will be an engaging writer and public speaker with a love for history, and an aptitude for communicating your enthusiasm for the subject to a wide range of audiences.

Salary:                       £40,537
