We are a team of people who love and look after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. We create space for spirits to stir and be stirred. We want everyone to feel welcome and accepted. We tell stories about the monarchs you know and the lives you don’t. We let people explore and we set minds racing. We are a charity and your support gives the palaces a future, for everyone.

As an independent charity, we are the custodians of almost 1,000 years of history, with an ambitious Public Engagement programme and broad portfolio of charitable activity.  Savvy PR strategies and media skills are vital to help us bring the story of the palaces and our work to the widest possible audience.

We are looking for a Press Officer to develop and implement high-quality communications to help raise the profile of our organisation and the work we do via impactful campaigns, filming, photography and media engagement.

Bringing enthusiasm, creativity and innovative ideas to this dynamic team, you’ll proactively manage your own PR projects and assist with all media relations and broadcast activity across our six HRP sites, covering everything from public programming events to charitable initiatives.

Benefits include:

  • Hybrid working
  • Enhanced holiday entitlement
  • Generous Employer’s Pension Contribution (up to 11%)

  • Family friendly policies and benefits
  • Staff discounts and membership to all palaces

You must be able to build and maintain effective media contacts, produce first-rate press resources and represent the organisation externally. Self-motivated, you will be a team player who has the ability to prioritise a competing workload and communicate effectively and confidently, as well as supporting other members of the team.

Educated to degree level or equivalent practical experience, with excellent copy-writing skills, you’ll have a solid track record of structuring and managing consumer and corporate press campaigns across traditional and new media, with a demonstratable experience in a similar PR environment. You’ll ideally have an understanding of the key issues facing the culture, heritage, charity, or tourism sectors and be able to demonstrate how you have proactively increased media coverage in previous posts. You will also have strong experience of “selling in” stories and be both tenacious and persuasive in your approach. In addition, you will be comfortable using your strong administrative and organisational skills to help the office run to maximum effect, delivering filming and photography shoots, live broadcasts and press events. If you’ve got what it takes to deliver this exciting challenge and join our team, we want to hear from you!
