This role will involve working a combination of days and nights in order to support all shifts as well as occasional weekend working.

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after Hillsborough Castle and Gardens, the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, the Banqueting House and Kew Palace.  We help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

Hillsborough Castle is a working Royal Residence, the base for the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and a visitor attraction.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Security Manager to lead and develop our warden team to ensure the provision of a safe and secure environment for all visitors and staff. Reporting to the Operations and Visitor Experience Manager, they will take ownership of warden team in delivering a secure environment for all and a royal welcome for our visitors at all times.


Interviews will ltake place between 14th & 15th August, applicants should ensure they can attend during this period.


Applicants should be of graduate calibre or have an equivalent high level of security delivery experience.  They must have proven experience in leading and managing a team as well as sound security management, stakeholder liaison, change management and budget management skills. 

Demonstrable knowledge of security best practice is essential and security management in a similar public facing environment would be desirable. Applicants should have proven skills of achieving strategic objectives through effective planning.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential in this role as is a resilient and determined ‘can do’ approach.  The successful candidate will be IT competent. Applicants should have proven ability of being a strong team player with a focus on team performance optimisation and creating a supportive environment for all teams in which to deliver security objectives.

A demonstrable passion for developing a professional team to deliver both a secure environment and 5 start visitor service is essential.
