Historic Royal Palaces looks after some of the most iconic sites in the UK today including Hampton Court, the Tower of London, Kensington Palace the Banqueting House, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle. We help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

Our plants and grounds are as much a part of our historic art and artefacts as the Castle we look after. These popular gardens are admired by our domestic and international visitors.

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 experienced Skilled Gardeners to work in the historic gardens around Hillsborough Castle:

  •  1 x established skilled gardener working 2.5 days per week
  • 1 x temporary (6 months) skilled gardener working 3 days per week

You will work in a small friendly team in a variety of gardens doing topiary, lawn care, seasonal bedding and herbaceous borders.  

Our gardening teams have an excellent reputation for their high standards and innovative approaches.

To succeed you will need to be an enthusiastic individual with a keen eye for detail and possess a passion for gardening in prestigious gardens. You will need to have a professional all round knowledge of garden maintenance tasks and an understanding of what it means to provide a 5 Star service to our visitors.

 You will be positive, team focused with the proven competency in using a range of horticultural machinery, tools and equipment.

A horticultural qualification at QCF/NVQ level 2 or 3, previous practical horticultural experience, A NPTC spraying certificate and driver’s licence are desirable but not essential. Candidates without the necessary qualifications may be considered if they can demonstrate considerable experience or skills and have or are enrolling in a suitable horticultural course.

 Please note that some week-end and Bank holiday duties will be required as is working outdoors in all different weathers.
