Hillsborough Castle is a working Royal Residence, the base for the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and a great place for the public to visit. Historic Royal Palaces’ exciting landmark project has seen this exquisite and fascinating historic property open its doors to everyone. Our ambitious programme of conservation, re-presentation and re-imagination, has made Hillsborough Castle and Gardens a place for discovery, delight, and learning for visitors of all ages.

 

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our front of house team. Your role will be to bring the amazing stories of Hillsborough Castle and Gardens to life. From the moment the visitors arrive, you will be part of an expert team that relishes in delivering a Royal Welcome visitor experience. You will have a passion for working with people, great communication skills and the confidence to proactively engage with our many visitors.

You will bring the Castle to life by sharing fascinating stories about the estate, its residents and its guests. While sharing this passion for the Castle, you will also ensure the historical accuracy and relevance of these stories. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining the security of the Castle and its collections.

We’ll give you all the training you need to provide our visitors with an amazing experience, all we ask is that you have:

  • The confidence to proactively engage with all our visitors and to deliver entertaining talks and tours of the palace to diverse groups
  • Face to face customer service experience and the ability to deliver great service in a proactive and enthusiastic way
  • A flair for storytelling with both individuals and large groups
  • A basic knowledge of Northern Ireland’s history
  • The ability to speak another language is desirable although not essential
